It’s a new year for new infants!

Musilikale’s group continues to boom! With the arrival of not two but THREE infants in January, this epic gorilla family is growing and thriving. Every day, they are the picture of a harmonious family, with the females maintaining a strong bond, the silverbacks acting as powerful protectors and the youngsters never failing to ham it up during playtime.

Celebrating women in science!

Feb. 11 was a special holiday: the United Nations International Day of Women and Girls in Science. To celebrate this day, we recognize one of our dedicated team members: Marie Rose Umuhoza, our lab coordinator at the Fossey Fund. Rose feels strongly that women should pursue scientific careers, and she offered this encouragement: “Your ideas, perspectives and passions are incredibly valuable, and the world needs your unique contributions.”
